Week 3 - Action Research Plan
Well, I have gone back and forth with the action research plan. I didn't realize all the steps that I would have to incorporate for the completion of this assignment. However, the assignment is never completed because I keep going back and forth tweaking it, adding items, deleting items, thinking of new ideas....etc. I think everyone else in the class understands what I am talking about. I'm really enjoying it though! Here is a copy of what I have so far. Your comments and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Patti, I agree that the number of steps was greuling. How did you do with part four of the assignment, it seemed confusing as to if we need to include all of the information or just how it will be disseminated to the stakeholders? As for your plan, what are you going to use as determining factors for class size hindering learning?
ReplyDeleteI am going to follow certain teachers from the beginning of school who have had their class size reduced over the year versus teachers who have had class sizes increase. In our district this happens naturally some times due to a variety of issues. I have had my class size reduced simply because students have either changed their degree plan thus eliminating the need for my class (I teacher PreAP, AP & regular Physics) or have moved out of district. On the other hand, I know some teachers who have had an increase in size because they teach a reg-ed class and have had "move-in's" due to students getting out of the PreAP or AP programs.
ReplyDeleteThe research I have been finding of course recommends reduction but states that it really doesn't start having an effect unless the reduction is close to or below 20.
Keep sending me ideas. This makes me have to think through some issues that I will be facing. Thank you for your thoughts.
Patti,
ReplyDeleteLet's say that your project produces data that supports your claim that lower teacher/student ratios improves students performance and teacher morale. Do you think administration at your school will be able make the needed changes happen in order to lower the ratio(i.e. hire more teachers, move people around)?
