What I learned in Week 2

This week gave me great insight into my choice of topic for action research.  I learned that you want to chose something that is practical and of importance to you so that you would be fully vested in the outcome and student performance would be improved.  I also learned that if student performance is not improving then it all has been a wasted effort of time and manpower.  As leaders we need to be life-long learners and never settle or be content with our current practices.  In doing this we will make sure that we are striving to increase student achievement.

  1. This week was also helpfulto me in guiding me towards choosing a topic I am interested in. I think the videos gave a little clarification as to what types of research goes on in real life situations. I still have a a hard time connecting to senerios in text.

  2. Patti,
I relate well with your comment about being a life-long learner. It irritates me to no end when I hear about a teacher that thinks summer time is their time and they do not need to improve or sharpen their skills. I summer is the time to do the most work, because you have time to set down and push yourself to get better. If we can't as adults strive to be life-long learners, then why would we expect our students to be life-long learners?

  3. Patti,
I think the interviews were good for us all this week. You and I seem to be thinking the same. I really enjoyed the reminder about making sure to keep learning as well as making sure your research is practical for you. I hope to find this process getting easier to visualize. I still feel like it is very abstract and I don't yet know where to begin.
